The
day skipper shorebased couse is a comprehensive introduction to
navigation and cruising for inexperienced skippers.
This
course equips you with enough knowledge to navigate around familiar
waters by day. A basic knowledge of lights is also included to
introduce you to night cruising.

- the basics of
seamanship
- the essentials of
coastal
navigation and pilotage
- chartwork
- electronic charts
- position fixing
- plotting a course to
steer
- weather forecasting
and
meteorology
- tides
- collision regulations
- construction, parts
and
equipment of a cruising boat
- emergency
and safety
procedures including distress calls,use of flares, safety
harnesses, lifejackets and liferafts

Course
options:
We appreciate that finding
time for courses can be difficult therefore we offer a range of course
options each winter to suit your needs:
- 8 evenings &
1 weekend
- 1 evening per week 6.30pm to 9.30pm plus 1 weekend
- 13 evenings - 1 evening per week 6.30pm to
9.30pm (starting each September)
